I showed 4 collage paintings and 4 prints embellished with paint and collage at Art on Paper in NYC, March 5-8, 2020. I was showing with the Upstream Gallery (Hastings on Hudson, NY) and our booth was filled each day with visitors and collectors. I am well and feel lucky that I did not catch the corona virus. The image below is titled Moustache. It’s acrylic and paper, collage, 14 x 14 inches. Each year Art on Paper draws amazing crowds: thousands of people came to the opening night reception..
The image above shows me standing in front of my collages that I installed on the back wall in booth C18 at the fair. Each framed work above is 25 x 20 inches. Photo credit: Madlyn Goldman (a gallery member who visited the fair).
The image above is titled Worry. It started as a collagraph print. I added paper collage, oil and acrylic paint. I gave it the title Worry in 2018 and the title has no connection to worrying now. Art on Paper (March 5-8, 2020) came 3 days before the WHO – World Health Organization – declared a global pandemic. At the fair, we said hello by bumping elbows – with knowing smiles. I sold a small work to a collector.I self-quarantined after the fair, and I did not get sick.
The image above it titled Overlap. It’s an an oil-based collagraph print that I created in my studio by inking and placing cut papers onto a Plexi plate that was coated with a film of oil paint. I pulled the print, added paint, drawing and collage. It’s framed, 25 x 20 inches (dated 2019).
My solo exhibition at Upstream Gallery (originally scheduled for May, 2020) is postponed indefinitely until NY businesses can reopen.
